Researchers at Dartmouth Medical School identified Salt Lake City and Rochester Minnesota as model communities for high quality appropriate hospital care. The study states that if every healthcare organization in the country provided care the way it is provided by Intermountain Healthcare, annual Medicare expenses would be cut by $34 billion per year and national mortality rates would fall by 2%.
